C/Col Marc Daigle

On Saturday, 4 November 2006, another Louisiana Wing Cadet received the General Carl A. Spaatz Award, Cadet Colonel Marc Daigle. C/Col Daigle, a member of the Baton Rouge Cadet Squadron, is the 1,619 Cadet to receive the General Carl A. Spaatz Award since the awards inception in 1964.

Joining Civil Air Patrol in August of 2001, C/Col Daigle has held numerous leadership positions at the squadron and wing level. Two years after joining, on 5 June 2003, he earned the General Billy Mitchell Award, achieving the grade of Cadet 2d Lieutenant. Later that year, he was promoted to Cadet Commander of the Baton Rouge Cadet Squadron and served as Cadet Commander for two years. He also served as the Command Chief Master Sergeant at the 2003 Louisiana Wing Summer Encampment.

In 2004, C/Col Daigle attended National Blue Beret held in Oshkosh, WI. There he earned his certification as a Flight Line Marshall and received the Search Find Ribbon. Additionally, at the 2004 Louisiana Wing Encampment he served as a Squadron Commander.

At the 2005 Louisiana Wing Summer Encampment, he served as the Cadet Encampment Commander. Just shortly after completing the Encampment, C/Col Daigle departed for Maxwell AFB to attend Cadet Officer School in 2005, where he received the Excellence in Writing Award for his flight. During that year, for the 2005-2006 term of the Louisiana Wing Cadet Advisory Council, he was elected and served as Vice Chairperson. On 5 January 2005, he was awarded with the Air Force Association Citation, which was presented at the 2005 Louisiana Wing Conference.

This past year, C/Col Daigle was one of 24 cadets selected to attend the third annual Civic Leadership Academy in Washington D.C., where he toured, learned about our government, and met with Louisiana Congressional Representatives on CAP Legislative Day. Also, during this past year, C/Col Daigle attended the 2006 Louisiana Wing Encampment as the Cadet Encampment Commander. C/Col Daigle currently serves as the Louisiana Wing Cadet Commander, the Louisiana Wing Cadet Advisory Council Chairperson, and as the Primary Representative to the Southwest Region CAC. For 2007, he has applied for the International Air Cadet Exchange, applying for the countries of Germany, Belgium, and Sweden.

Currently attending Louisiana State University, C/Col Daigle is majoring in Biological Sciences with the aspiration of attending the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine, once receiving his undergraduate degree. Upon turning 21, he intends on continuing his service in Civil Air Patrol as a Senior Member.
