Saturday, 12 August 2006, the Louisiana Wing received a new Spaatz Cadet,
Cadet Colonel Christie Ducote who is a member of the Lafayette Cadet Squadron.
C/Col Ducote is the 1,611 cadet to receive the General Carl A. Spaatz Award since its inception in 1964.
C/Col Ducote joined the Civil Air Patrol in September of 1999, as a member of
the Gretna Cadet Squadron. From there she rose through the ranks and became the
Cadet Commander of Gretna Cadet. C/Col Ducote has participated in many Wing;
as well as, National activities serving in various leadership positions. She served as
the First Sergeant at the 2001 LAWG Encampment and as the Cadet Executive Officer
at the 2002 LAWG Encampment. She attended the National Powered Flight Academy Glider
Track in 2002 and went back the following year to serve as the Cadet Commander
of the Academy in 2003. She attended the Civic Leadership Academy in 2004,
which was the first year the activity was introduced. C/Col Ducote was selected for
IACE in 2004 to visit the country of Australia.
C/Col Ducote is currently attending Auburn University pursuing a degree in
Biomedical Sciences and has been accepted to Palmer Chiropractic College.
She is a solo pilot in both glider and powered aircraft. Ducote is also in flight training at Auburn University for her private pilot's license.
